Zombies don’t really exist?
Are you sure about that?
Are you absolutely sure?
The play How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse is a uniquely witty blend of comedy and horror. It feeds on a theme that particularly haunts and unsettles teenagers (and adults alike): zombies! A one-act play, this multi-award-winning piece by playwright and screenwriter Ben Muir unfolds as a survival training seminar designed to prepare young people for the possible arrival of the evil dead and equip them with practical survival strategies. Four characters – elite experts from the School of Survival – lead the audience through lectures, simulations, and demonstrations. Through a series of tasks, they engage the audience to discover who has what it takes to make it through the worst-case scenario.
Alongside the genre’s ability to pack a bite, the production also offers a reflection on the looming threats of today (both abstract and all too real), playfully exploring themes of fear and manipulation, as well as out-of-the-box thinking and teamwork.
Interaction and audience participation are the lifeblood of this show. Built around improvisation and direct communication with the audience, the performance actively involves the viewers in the unfolding of events. A rich mix of comic techniques, combined with horror elements, makes for an engaging and thoroughly entertaining theatre experience.
The show includes sudden and loud sound effects.
